Introduction

Accomplishment. That is the feeling I get every time I learn a new skill with Dreamweaver. It’s been a while since I felt it. It has brought back the desire to go to school and see what new ability I could learn that day. It is a feeling I will try to pass on to my students with my final project.

Background

I was born in Tijuana Mexico 35 years ago. Like many families who came from central Mexico (my parents are from a small town on the outside of Guadalajara), I have a very large family. I am the oldest of 42 grandchildren on my father’s side (he has 10 brothers and sisters) and I’m on the middle of 27 grandchildren in my mother’s side of the family (she has 7 siblings). I have four brothers and one sister. My wife’s name is Brenda and my son’s name is Johan (I’m thinking of breaking the family tradition because I only want two children).

I enjoy playing soccer and have been doing it since I was five years old. My favorite soccer team is Chivas de Guadalajara (I would be kicked out of the family if I went for another team, especially America). Recently I took a habit of reading novels (Harry Potter, Eragon, The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings). And, I also enjoy surfing the net when I have some free time and playing video games.

Education

My Elementary and Middle school years were done in Tijuana. When I started High School (Castle Park), I had no idea how to speak English. I’m glad to say that with the help and support from relatives, friends and teachers, I was able to understand and speak the language in about two years. I graduated High School with a good enough GPA to come to SDSU. I started with a career in Management in mind, but changed it half way through. I decided to become a math teacher.

Profession

I am an Algebra teacher at Otay Ranch High School. I have been teaching for nine years (the first four were done at National City Middle School). I’m also the JV boys soccer coach.

Goals

My plan is to use the knowledge I get from EDTEC 540 and 541 to help my students succeed at learning the standards and objectives given by the state of California. I will aim at finishing my Masters in Educational Technology in two years and see where this road takes me in the future.
